The Baltimore Orioles may have a 4.52 implied team total, but their matchup with Masahiro Tanaka is hardly a walk in the park.

Tanaka has struggled to a 5.86 ERA, but he has a 3.89 SIERA, showing he's a lot whole better than this. He checks the boxes of an unlucky pitcher, with both an elevated .331 BABIP and 22.8% home-run-to-fly-ball rate (HR/FB). As we saw from his last outing, better days may be ahead, and that could continue tonight.

Trumbo was the league leader in homers last season with 47, but he has has just seven so far. His 10.9% HR/FB rate should rise, but he's hitting more ground balls this year (44.7% rate) and hasn't made hard contact as often (32.3% rate). However, he has an improved 40.0% hard-hit rate in May, so perhaps more dingers are around the corner.

Still, with better spots and values on the board, Trumbo is strictly a tournament flyer against an improving Tanaka.
