The Los Angeles Dodgers star first baseman had a true breakout season in 2017 to the tune of 39 home runs, 97 RBI, and 87 runs scored. He set the National League rookie record in dingers, while his OPS of .933 was outstanding.

So what on earth could make him an overvalued commodity? It's not that he's going to be bad in 2018, it's that, at a position as stacked as first base, there are other safer options that also help out in more categories. He's currently the fourth first baseman coming off the board at around 25th overall, which would be the first pick in the third round in 12-team leagues. However, our projections have Bellinger as the seventh-best fantasy option at first base, with Anthony Rizzo, Jose Abreu, and Eric Hosmer all ranked higher.

We project a .257 batting average in his sophomore season with an OPS of .840, 34 dingers, 95 RBI, and 81 runs scored. Those are still very good numbers, and if you play in an on-base percentage league, Bellinger has a bit more value. At a deep position like first base, though, Bellinger is going a little bit sooner than he should be.
