Andrew McCutchen, OF, San Francisco Giants

Andrew McCutchen had a bit of a rebound season last year, but it came primarily due to his improvement against left-handed pitching. Against righties, he remained a slightly above-average hitter (107 wRC+ against righties in 2016 and a 103 wRC+ versus righties in 2017).

Against lefties last season, McCutchen hit the ball hard (42.6% hard-hit rate) and in the air (48.5% fly-ball rate). This is an ideal batted-ball profile, but he was more mediocre against right-handed pitchers, posting a 33.2% hard-hit rate and 34.3% fly-ball rate.

McCutchen faces Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Kenta Maeda on Saturday. Maeda had a bit of a down year last season, but in his two-year MLB career, he has held right-handed hitters to a .262 wOBA and 26.5% hard-hit rate.

McCutchen will make for a fine option against southpaws, but against tough right-handed pitchers like Maeda, he remains an avoid.
