Buy Trevor Bauer

Trevor Bauer has always had phenomenal stuff and now is putting it all together. The Cleveland Indians right hander gave up 4 earned runs in 7.1 innings Sunday against the Houston Astros pitching against his nemesis Gerrit Cole but struck out 13 batters and walked just 2, another outstanding performance in a season full of them.

In 11 starts, Bauer has a 2.61 ERA and a 2.65 FIP, a huge improvement from his career marks of a 4.20 ERA and 4.02 FIP. He's striking out a career-high 28.6% of batters this season with an 8.3% walk rate, right around the same numbers he's had the last few seasons, but has a lower home run-per-nine rate than ever before of 0.50. Over his career, he's allowed an 11.5% home run-per-fly-ball ratio, but this season, it's an all-time low 6.3%.

The peripherals show a pitcher who is finally coming into his own. No BABIP luck, no unsustainable side stats, just a good pitcher who is keeping the ball in the yard and striking a lot of guys out. He's a good off-the-radar purchase for a team in need of strikeouts and ERA.
