3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on 6/19/18

Giancarlo Stanton has been producing some underwhelming numbers in his first season with the New York Yankees. If we just look at his work against southpaws, though, he has turned an outstanding 62.0% hard-hit rate into a .477 wOBA and .435 ISO. That's a small sample of 77 plate appearances, but if we expand our view to include 2017 (233 plate appearances), his wOBA actually jumps to .479 while his ISO jumps to .439.

Seattle Mariners lefty Marco Gonzales has shown some promise this season, but a 3.74 SIERA after posting a 4.48 SIERA in 2017 does leave some room for concern. His hard-hit rate is up from where it was last year (to 33.2%) while his soft-hit rate is down (to 16.6%), and he has seen a jump in strikeout rate despite his swinging-strike rate falling.

Those aren't good signs that Gonzales is going to continue to produce the way he has in 2018, and even if he does, Stanton is dangerous enough against lefties to offer massive upside anyway.
