2018 has been a fantastic bounce-back campaign for hurler Marco Gonzales, but tonight's matchup presents a pile of issues.

Over 23 turns this season, the lefty has posted a strong 3.71 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA), boosted by a 21.5% strikeout rate and 29.2% hard-hit rate. But unfortunately, Gonzalez faces one of the best teams in baseball, the Oakland Athletics, who have been on fire at the plate.

In the last month, only the Texas Rangers have bested the A's in terms of weighted on-base average (wOBA), with Oakland posting a strong mark of .347. They also check in fifth in hard-hit rate (39.7%), and they lead the league in fly-ball rate (39.1%).

The southpaw has been fantastic, but there are other arms that seem like a better choice.
