Speed Continues to Become More Expensive

Scarce commodities can go a lot of ways in fantasy drafts, and speed continues to get accelerated over the last few weeks, despite steals being down in recent seasons.

Steals Over the Past Five Seasons

Guys like Whit Merrifield, who were already going pretty high (33rd), have continued to climb in the last 14 days (29th). Yasiel Puig provides some stolen base punch, swiping 15 bags a season ago, and has made a huge jump from 95th to 68th.

But perhaps the biggest riser is Jonathan Villar, who is currently sporting an ADP of 81st in the last two weeks and has gone as high as 38th in one draft.

None of this is to suggest that you should overpay for any commodity, including steals, but the price of speed is going up.
