Alcides Escobar, SS, Kansas City Royals

FanDuel Price: $3,000

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Alcides Escobar may be included in some potential Royals stacks, but with Xander Bogaerts and Manny Machado both likely to hog the majority of the ownership at shortstop, Escobar will probably be an afterthought.

Why You Should Use Him:

Like many others in today's writeup, Escobar struggled mightily to begin the season but has turned things around recently. Over his past 10 games, Kansas City's leadoff hitter has a .326 batting average, along with 3 stolen bases and 6 runs. He's also averaged a respectable 10.5 FanDuel points during that stretch and has shown some upside (games of 21.2 and 30.9) despite the lack of power.

Escobar will likely bat leadoff again for the Royals tonight against Miguel Gonzalez, against whom Vegas has Kansas City putting up 4.6 runs -- the second-highest implied total on the slate. Gonzalez is simply not a starting-caliber pitcher at this point in his career, and the pesky Royals offense has a good chance to expose him as such tonight.

It's not often that you get to roster the leadoff man for a team with the second-highest implied team total at a low price and low ownership. However, that is the case tonight with Escobar. Try to fit Bogaerts or Machado in your cash game lineup, but give Escobar and the Royals offense as a whole a look in tournaments.
