Matt Carpenter, 3B, St. Louis Cardinals

FanDuel Price: $3,500

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Nolan Arenado and Josh Donaldson are likely to be the chalk at third base, which will leave the often overlooked Matt Carpenter overlooked once again.

Why You Should Use Him:

Despite ranking fourth in average FanDuel points among third basemen on today's slate, Carpenter is priced as the ninth-most expensive third baseman. That seems even more ridiculous when you consider the fact that he is going against Wily Peralta today, the owner of the league's highest WHIP and second-highest ERA.

Peralta is bad enough that hitters of any handedness are worth targeting against him, but it's especially enticing when you can get a talented left-handed batter like Carpenter against him. Carpenter has crushed right-handed pitching in his career, and Peralta has been no exception. In 32 career at bats against Peralta, Carpenter has maintained a .469 batting average.

The Cardinals 4.8 implied team total is tied with Toronto for the third-highest on the slate, and their leadoff hitter will likely be a big part of reaching that number. Carpenter is one of the best plays of the day today and is viable in all formats.
