4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Studs to Target on 6/8/16
Madison Bumgarner, P, San Francisco Giants
FanDuel Price: $11,400
Left-hander Madison Bumgarner has been a consistent workhorse for the Giants, throwing at least 200 innings in each of the last five seasons. In that stretch, Bumgarner has posted a SIERA above 3.33 just once (3.46 in 2012). He’s turning in another quality season, recording a 3.30 SIERA, 7.3% walk rate, and 28.4% strikeout rate, the latter of which is a career-best mark.
Bumgarner has a difficult matchup tonight against the Boston Red Sox, but he’s still our second-ranked arm for the main slate with a projected point total of 37.2. Boston is the game’s top offense, ranking first in wOBA (.362) and slugging percentage (.488).
The game is being played at San Francisco’s AT&T Park, which is one of the best pitchers’ parks in baseball. Per ESPN’s Park Factors, the Giants’ home field is last in home run factor and 28th in overall park factor. As an added bonus, with the game being played in the National League, slugger David Ortiz may not be in the lineup, which was the case Tuesday.
It’s going to be risky to roster a pitcher this year against Boston, but this is one of the rare good opportunities to give it a whirl. The Red Sox’ implied total for tonight is just 3.15 runs, which ties for the lowest mark on the slate.
