As has been the case fairly often this season, when Noah Syndergaard in on the bump, he’s our top-ranked pitcher. Today, there is the added bonus of his not-too-crazy salary. That’s due in large part to his home matchup with the Kansas City Royals, who are not the Braves.

The thing is, Syndergaard makes everyone look like the Braves, especially when he’s pitching at Citi Field, the best pitchers’ park in the land. Through 45 innings at home in 2016, opponents own a meager .222 wOBA off Syndergaard while he sports a 37.2% strikeout rate in those outings.

Kansas City has been one of the toughest teams to strike out during the past two-plus seasons, and it’s no different this year as their 19.6% whiff rate ranks ninth. However, the Royals did fan nine times in six innings against Syndergaard back in April’s season-opening game. Kansas City has a lowly implied total of 3.02 runs, the second-lowest mark of the day.
