5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Studs to Target on 8/10/16
Jaime Garcia, P, St. Louis Cardinals
FanDuel Price: $8,700
The main slate is a weaker one in terms of pitching. With a home matchup against the Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals’ lefty Jaime Garcia is our top-ranked arm with a projected point total of 31.2 points.
Garcia has solid but unspectacular numbers, sporting a 3.87 SIERA, 19.9% strikeout rate and 7.6% walk rate. His 57.3% ground-ball rate helps him limit damage, and Garcia has been much better at home. In his starts at Busch Stadium, he’s allowing just a .268 wOBA -- compared to a .360 wOBA on the road -- and his strikeout rate jumps to 21.7%.
Cincinnati just isn’t very good, and now they’re without one of their big bats after dealing Jay Bruce.
Overall, the Reds rank 26th with a .304 wOBA. That number drops to .295 away from homer-happy Great American Ball Park, and Cincy has a .300 wOBA against southpaws. Garcia being left-handed also helps quell Joey Votto, one of the Reds’ few power bats.
Busch Stadium ranks 20th in park factor and 22nd in home run factor, and Cincy’s implied total of 3.54 runs is the lowest of the slate.
