Nolan Arenado against a left-hander is unfair, and while the game isn’t at Coors Field, it’s still in a very hitter-friendly environment at Globe Life Park, which ranks sixth in park factor.

What really makes it a great run-scoring environment tonight is the fact the Texas Rangers are starting Martin Perez. With a 5.28 SIERA, 11.2% strikeout rate, and 9.7% walk rate, Perez is one of the worst starters in baseball. He’s getting crushed by righties, surrendering a .348 wOBA and 33.4% hard-hit rate.

Arenado’s batted-ball numbers against lefties are out of this world as he’s sporting a 38.2% hard-hit rate with a 52.8% fly-ball rate. That, folks, is how you get a .404 wOBA versus southpaws.

Arenado is one of the best players in baseball, so he’s never really a true contrarian play. But with the Colorado Rockies on the road, he may see a little less ownership in this one, making him even more attractive in tournaments.
