4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 8/8/17
Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks.
Houston Astros
There are two major stacking options on today's slate, and the Houston Astros are definitely choice 1A. The 'Stros have been a fantastic offense so far in 2017, and also rank second in team wOBA against southpaws with a mark of .352. They'll take on lefty Derek Holland of the Chicago White Sox this evening.
Even with George Springer on the disabled list, Houston continued their hot play, and the top of the lineup has been bananas. Since June 1st (245 plate appearances), Jose Altuve is hitting .406 with a 196 wRC+, and is putting himself in some serious consideration for AL MVP talks. Also helping out at the top, Alex Bregman has posted a .901 OPS, a 29.6% hard-hit rate and a 42.8% fly-ball rate since the same date.
Holland has really struggled against right-handed hitters, who have torched him for a .397 wOBA, a 40.4% hard-hit rate and a 42.6% fly-ball rate this year. While Altuve and Bregman are expensive, Tyler White is a cheap option at first base, providing some right-handed pop and being priced under $3,000.
