2 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 9/6/18

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks.

Cincinnati Reds

On the ultra-short slate, Eric Lauer is the only starting pitcher with a SIERA above 4.07, and this season he has just an 8.3% swinging-strike rate. He comes into play with a high but manageable 9.3% walk rate as well as a poor 39.0% hard-hit rate. That all adds up to a rough 4.79 SIERA, which should be plenty good enough for stacking purposes.

Against southpaws, the Cincinnati Reds are the best team you didn't know were good. In that split, they rank first in walk-to-strikeout ratio while boasting the sixth-highest walk rate (9.4%) and sixth-lowest strikeout rate (20.5%). It is thanks to that superb plate discipline that they rank fifth in wRC+ against left-handed pitching, with a 106 mark.

Scooter Gennett ($4,100) has a 19.6% strikeout rate, 36.2% fly-ball rate, and 39.9% hard-hit rate in 2018. Eugenio Suarez ($3,900) comes into play as one of the best hitters against left-handed pitching right now, too. He's sitting on a 194 wRC+ in that split, including a 36.7% fly-ball rate and absolutely bonkers 56.7% hard-hit rate. Joey Votto ($3,700) is a future Hall of Famer, but as of right now he remains one of the best pure hitters in the game. He boasts a 17.7% walk rate, 16.0% strikeout rate, and a 39.8% hard-hit rate this year.

Scott Schebler ($3,300) has flashed big-time power this year, with a 40.7% hard-hit rate. Catcher Curt Casali ($3,000) has crushed left-handed pitching this year. That includes a 154 wRC+, 12.8% strikeout rate, and 34.5% hard-hit rate. Jose Peraza ($2,900) comes into play with a 105 wRC+ against left-handed pitching, including a 6.1% strikeout rate, and plenty of upside with his speed, as he's got over 20 steals on the year.

We know why we are rostering Billy Hamilton ($2,700), and it's not because he's the next Aaron Judge. It's because he has 272 steals in less than 700 career games and can give you plenty of upside with his legs. Tucker Barnhart ($2,500) is flat -out underpriced if he's in the lineup. He's got a 135 wRC+ against southpaws this year, including a 36.1% hard-hit rate.
