4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 4/12/19
We end the work week with a delightful 12-game slate packed with offense. Even without Coors Field, we have 10 teams with implied totals above 4.50 runs and four exceeding 5.00. Stack to your heart's content!
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks.
Texas Rangers
With two mediocre pitchers on the mound and temperatures in the 70s at Globe Life Park, the Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics combine for a slate-high 10.5 over/under tonight, making them both very appealing stacks.
The Rangers face Mike Fiers, who's shown nothing to scare us over four starts, submitting a paltry 5.98 SIERA to go with a 13.2% strikeout rate, 11.8% walk rate, and 41.8% hard-hit rate. Given the wide gap between his 3.56 ERA and 4.25 SIERA in 2018, it isn't surprising to see Fiers get his comeuppance, but so far it's been even worse than expected.
But even if he shows some improvement, Fiers is no stranger to the long ball over his career, and last year he allowed 1.67 home runs per 9 innings off a 39.1% hard-hit rate and 43.2% fly-ball rate. He's given up a home-run-to-fly-ball (HR/FB) rate of at least 14% in each of the last three seasons.
Fiers allowed hard contact to both sides of the plate last year, so we shouldn't hesitate to attack him with righties, but it can't hurt that five of the Rangers' first six hitters are expected to bat left-handed. Of course, any Texas stack should look to Joey Gallo ($4,200) first, and if you need a reminder of his power upside, just take a quick glance at his Statcast page.
On the cheaper end, Shin-Soo Choo ($3,300) and Rougned Odor ($2,800) make for affordable hitters at the top of the order, and Asdrubal Cabrera ($2,900) shouldn't be forgotten a bit further down after producing a 40.9% hard-hit rate and 40.3% fly-ball rate versus right-handers in 2018.
Nomar Mazara ($3,500) has some solid pop, too, hitting exactly 20 homers three years in a row, and he has an encouraging 53.6% hard-hit rate so far this year.
