4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 8/9/19
We have quite a few elite hurlers taking the mound tonight, but with 14 games on tap, there's plenty of offense to go around as well. Some of the usual suspects are in fantastic spots tonight, while we also see the return of one of our favorite pitchers to stack against.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks.
Houston Astros
After seeing the beatdown the New York Yankees put on the Baltimore Orioles earlier this week, it's almost cruel that the Orioles now have to host the Houston Astros (6.33 implied total).
Dylan Bundy doesn't figure to stop the bleeding, as he's allowing dingers at an alarming rate for the second straight season. After coughing up 2.15 per nine innings in 2018, he's allowing 1.99 per nine this year. Although he gets punchouts in same-sided matchups, most of those bombs have come against right-handed bats (2.41 per nine innings).
Of course, that doesn't mean he's particularly effective against lefty sticks, either. In that split, he has a lackluster 18.9% strikeout rate and 4.93 xFIP while still allowing 1.55 long balls per nine innings.
Throw in a poor bullpen, and we could see another laugher at the expense of the Orioles.
This is a loaded lineup, of course, and you can opt for any combination of George Springer ($4,400), Jose Altuve ($4,300), Michael Brantley ($4,100), Alex Bregman ($4,000), Yordan Alvarez ($4,300), and Yulieski Gurriel ($3,500).
That group is pretty expensive, though, so Robinson Chirinos ($2,800) and Josh Reddick ($2,500) can offer some salary relief at the bottom of the order, or you could even roll the dice with a cheap pitcher like Drew Smyly ($7,600).
