KBO Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Thursday 7/23/20

Weather could once again be an issue in the KBO, but Aaron Brooks gets a dream matchup against the Hanwha Eagles. Which other spots stand out?

MLB DFS is right around the corner (literally!), but you don't have to wait until then to get your daily fantasy baseball fix. The KBO rolls on with daily contests on FanDuel.

First pitch on Thursday is at 5:30 am ET, and official lineups typically come out an hour before game time at the earliest.

Scoring is identical to what we see in MLB DFS, but FanDuel is condensing the number of starting spots to seven. You start one pitcher as usual, and then only need to roster two infielders, two outfielders, and two utility players to fill out the rest. Your total team salary is also $100 instead of $35,000.

Some websites that can help you get started include MyKBO Stats, FanGraphs, and Baseball-Reference.

Below is an overview of tonight's starting pitchers sorted by FanDuel salary with their 2020 numbers. Opposing team stats are also from this season. Multi-year park factors from the Korean website, Statiz.

Note that on FanDuel these hurlers are listed by their team names (ex: "SK Starting P"), so those are also included.

Let's check out which pitchers and stacks stand out on tonight's slate

Pitchers

Welp. The weather took a turn for the worst on Wednesday, with only the Tigers-Eagles game not getting washed out, which was ironically one of the biggest danger spots earlier in the day.

Unfortunately, rain is going to be an issue again on Thursday, as all five games are in danger of getting postponed. Of course, we're still a ways away from first pitch, so this isn't to say things can't improve, but it's another slate where keeping a close eye on MyKBO Stats will be essential.

Of course, this also means that most of this slate's pitchers are the same as Wednesday, and with the same teams playing each other, this shouldn't dramatically alter how we handle things.

The main difference is Aaron Brooks ($30; Kia Starting P) will start against the Hanwha Eagles, and the easy matchup vaults him to the top of the pitching list. He's priced up accordingly, but everything lines up for a big performance.

Chan-gyu Lim ($28; LG Starting P) is another change, and he''s an ideal target in tournaments for his upside against the KT Wiz. Lim owns the slate's highest strikeout rate, and while the Wiz are dangerous, they're one of the best matchups for punchouts.

Meanwhile, Drew Rucinski ($27; NC Starting P) and William Cuevas ($23; KT Starting P) are carryovers from Wednesday, and they both see reductions in price. Considering the alternatives, Cuevas is a little less appealing now, but he's still arguably the best pay-down option.

Stacks

Chi-guk Park is still starting for the Doosan Bears, so the Kiwoom Heroes remain a top-notch stack again. Likewise, the SK Wyverns get another rare mention in their spot versus Won-sam Jang. Both teams were mentioned in yesterday's helper. The NC Dinos also find themselves in the same matchup against a mediocre Tae-in Won.

The Doosan Bears face a different hurler in Seung-ho Lee, whose overall numbers are actually even worse than Wednesday's original starter. However, Lee is a left-hander, which isn't ideal for the Bears' slew of star lefties, and he actually had one of his best starts of the season against Doosan in late June. Still, we shouldn't write off the Bears in the rematch.

The Kia Tigers are also worth a look against a struggling Chad Bell. Only Won-sam Jang has produced a worse FIP, and Bell has done it in twice as many starts (eight).
