Pitchers
Shane McClanahan ($11,000)
At his highest salary point this season, McClanahan is still an elite option for today's pitching rich slate with his impressive 37.4% K-rate and 1.89 expected Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP) Rating.
Tampa Bay's left-hander will take the mound at home in a sneaky matchup against a New York Yankees' lineup with a projected 28.6% strikeout percentage and a 70.6% contact percentage.
numberFire's models currently rank McClanahan as Sunday's third rated pitcher with a 34.5 fantasy expectation and 6.4 strikeouts.
Corbin Burnes ($10,200)
After a 3.7% salary decrease, Milwaukee's ace stands as today's top overall pitcher with a 39.7 FanDuel point projection and a 3.89 value rating.
While Burnes has an average strikeout opportunity against a St. Louis Cardinals' team with a 19.1% K-rate and a .329 weighted on-base average (wOBA), the 27-year old has pretty much been matchup proof this season through 57.2 innings, accounting for a 2.78 expected FIP and a 17.5% swinging strike rate.
Dylan Cease ($9,600)
In a favorable spot against a Cubs' lineup with a 25.7% strikeout percentage, Cease will have a great chance to rebound from his previous poor start last week.
Overall through 46.2 innings despite a 4.24 Earned Run Average (ERA), the 26-year old has been somewhat unlucky this season when examining his .352 Batting Average on Balls in Play (career .305 BABIP) and his 2.79 expected FIP.
With a 15.9% swinging strike percentage and a 35.3% K-rate, Cease has all the ingredients for a ceiling performance as numberFire's second rated pitcher with a 37.1 fantasy expectation.
Max Fried ($9,200)
Atlanta's left-hander is another value option to consider versus a Miami Marlins' team with an overall .297 wOBA against this split and seven projected hitters with strikeout percentages over 22.8%.
In his sixth major league season, the 28-year old has improved in several key statistics, including reducing his walk rate to 3.6% (career 7.1%) while also producing a 2.87 expected FIP and a 12.9% swinging strike percentage.
At his second lowest salary point in May, Fried stands as Sunday's third ranked pitcher in value with a 3.64 rating and a 33.5 fantasy expectation.
Stacks
The Red Sox offer today's top run total with a 5.9 expected mark against Bruce Zimmermann.
While the 27-year old has decreased his expected FIP to 3.81 through 47.2 innings this season, Zimmerman has remained vulnerable against right-handed bats (4.44 expected FIP, 15.8% strikeout rate) while also showing recent struggles with hard contact (19.3% barrel rate allowed in his last three starts).
With these weakness in mind, Boston's stacks can start with J.D. Martinez (.444 expected wOBA, 16.1% barrel percentage), Xander Bogaerts (.354 expected wOBA, 8.3% barrel rate), and Trevor Story 14% barrel percentage, .362 expected wOBA) while Rafael Devers (12.4% barrel rate, .395 expected wOBA), Christian Vazquez (8.8% barrel percentage, .350 expected wOBA) and Bobby Dalbec (8.6% barrel) can be used to round out Red Sox combinations.
Elieser Hernandez will make his ninth start this season against an Atlanta team projected for an undervalued 4.9 runs.
In his fifth opportunity in the Majors, the 27-year old has struggled overall with a 4.84 expected FIP while also allowing a whopping 12.3% barrel rate.
With pronounced trouble against left-handed bats (5.48 expected FIP, 10.1% walk percentage), Matt Olson (10.5% barrel percentage) and Ozzie Albies (.260 expected average) are appealing infield options in Atlanta stacks while Ronald Acuna (19% barrel percentage, .381 expected wOBA), Austin Riley (15.4% barrel rate, .386 expected wOBA), and Marcell Ozuna (12.2% barrel rate, .353 expected wOBA) should still be considered despite batting from the right side.
