3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for Friday 9/2/22
Stacks are an integral part of daily fantasy baseball. They can push a team to the top of a GPP by driving upside. However, they're also viable in cash games, namely smaller (two-person or three-person) stacks that mitigate the volatility of a full four-person stack.
This article is your home throughout the 2022 Major League Baseball season for the day's top stacks. The primary goal is to identify the highest-scoring upside stack. Still, game theory will play a role in contrarian stacks making the cut as GPP options. Nevertheless, chalky stacks will make appearances in this space, too.

Now, let's look at the top stacks on today's main slate.
Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox are the no-brainer best stack tonight. Of course, they'll be chalky, but it's for a good reason. One, they're in their hitter-friendly home park, Fenway Park. Two, Dallas Keuchel is toast.
Keuchel has a comically-bad 8.84 ERA, 5.26 Expected ERA (xERA), and 5.02 SIERA this year. He's also tallied a putrid 2.05 WHIP and coughed up 1.77 homers per nine innings.
The veteran southpaw hasn't had any answers for opposing hitters. He has allowed a .399 wOBA to left-handed batters, and he's also ceded a .606 slugging and .426 wOBA to righties.
Basically, Keuchel has been a punching bag.
As a result, the Red Sox are stackable throughout their entire lineup. Some of my favorite choices are Bobby Dalbec ($2,300), J.D. Martinez ($3,200), Trevor Story ($3,700), and Xander Bogaerts ($3,800).
Dalbec has had a .258 ISO and 129 wRC+ in his young career against lefties. Meanwhile, the other three have had at least a 137 wRC+ against southpaws, with Story owning the low mark, bested by Bogaerts' 142 wRC+ and Martinez's 155 wRC+.
New York Mets
The New York Mets don't have as cushy of a matchup as the Red Sox. But Josiah Gray hasn't blossomed into a frontline starter yet.
Sure, the young righty's 26.3 percent strikeout rate in 2022 has been excellent. Yet, his 9.9 percent walk rate and 2.34 homer per nine innings have contributed to his unimpressive 4.67 ERA.
The righty has been tough on righties. However, Gray has been clobbered by lefties, coughing up a .581 slugging and .404 wOBA to 236 of them in 2022.
He has also been in a funk, owning a 6.00 ERA and 3.19 homers per nine innings in his previous nine starts.
My favorite picks for the Mets have the platoon advantage, starting at the top of the order with Brandon Nimmo ($3,400). Since last year, the left-handed-hitting outfielder has had a 129 wRC+ against righties.
Francisco Lindor ($3,700), Jeff McNeil ($2,600), Dan Vogelbach ($2,500), and Eduardo Escobar ($2,400) are also enticing options.
Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins might slip under the radar on tonight's vast main slate. Therefore, they're an intriguing tournament stack in a juicy matchup.
Rookie Davis Martin wasn't a highly touted prospect. He also got his first taste of Triple-A this season, allowing a 5.18 ERA and 1.85 homers per nine innings in 11 starts spanning 48 2/3 innings.
The righty has split time between the bullpen and rotation for the Chicago White Sox this season and hasn't been impressive. Martin has a 4.62 ERA, 4.54 xFIP, and 4.96 xERA in 39 innings (five starts and four relief appearances).
The team facing Martin would likely be a chalky stack on most slates. However, the Twins might slip through the wickets on a main slate with 13 games and the Red Sox standing out as obvious chalk.
In addition, six hitters on the Twins who might start tonight have had at least a 110 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers since last season. Thus, they have depth and above-average talent such as Nick Gordon ($2,500), Max Kepler ($2,600), Jose Miranda ($2,900), Jorge Polanco ($3,000), Carlos Correa ($3,300), and Luis Arraez ($3,400).
