Ketel Marte idle for Diamondbacks in Wednesday matinee
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Mike Clevinger and the San Diego Padres.
Marte returned from a hamstring injury on Tuesday and went 0-for-4 with a walk and a pair of strikeouts as the designated hitter. He didn't appear to suffer a setback, but the Diamondbacks are keeping Marte out of the order for the day game after a night game. Jake Hager is starting on second base while Christian Walker takes over at designated hitter. Pavin Smith is starting on first base and batting sixth.
numberFire’s models project Smith for 9.8 FanDuel points on Wednesday, and he has a $2,300 salary. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Diamondbacks' implied total (3.31) is tied for fourth-lowest in the majors on Wednesday.
