Austin Riley on Braves bench Thursday
Atlanta Braves infielder Austin Riley is not in the lineup for Thursday's series finale against right-hander Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Braves appear to be giving Riley a routine breather after he went long in each of the first two games of the series. Nicky Lopez will replace Riley on third base Thursday and hit ninth. Matt Olson will bat third and Marcell Ozuna will clean things up for Atlanta.
numberFire’s models project Lopez ($2,400) for 7.5 FanDuel points on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Braves' implied total (6.68) is nearly two full runs higher than any other team on the board today. Wainwright is in the bottom 1% of the league in expected ERA (7.66), expected wOBA (.408), and expected slugging percentage (.569) this season. The 42-year-old also has a sky-high 8.10 ERA, 5.90 FIP, and wretched 11.1% strikeout rate.
