Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) re-signs with Dodgers; expected back in July or August
Ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw (shoulder), who signed a 1-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, is expected to return in July or August during the 2024 season.
Kershaw hit free agency after the 2023 season while dealing with a shoulder injury. After testing out the open market, he decided to re-sign with his former team on a one-year deal with a player option for the 2025 season. He is expected to return to the mound in July or August, but it's fair to assume the Dodgers will play it safe with his health considering their heavy investments in pitchers this offseason.
Kershaw's 2.46 ERA trailed only Cy Young-winner Blake Snell's 2.25 rate last year before the shoulder injury cut his season short. His 3.82 Skill-Interactive ERA (SIERA) was a top 25-mark league-wide as well. The 35-year-old was still pitching at an elite level last year and should continue doing so in 2024 as long as he's healthy.
