Reds' Nick Lodolo (leg) 'pain-free' but not yet fully healthy
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Nick Lodolo (leg) told media members that he no longer experiences pain while pitching, but added that he is not 100% healthy at this point.
Lodolo's much-anticipated 2023 season was cut short due to injuries, most notably the stress fractures in his leg that he is still working his way back from. The young pitcher appears to be recovering well and should be available for Cincinnati on Opening Day barring any setbacks.
Lodolo has shown a promising ability to miss bats in his first two stints in the majors, averaging 11.4 and 12.3 K/9 in his first two season. However, the young pitcher has struggled with control and keeping runs off the board in Cincinnati's hitter-friendly park, averaging a 4.31 ERA and a 1.378 WHIP to open his career. He'll look to take the next step in 2024.
