Cubs' Justin Steele exits Opening Day with hamstring injury
Chicago Cubs pitcher Justin Steele exited Thursday's Opening Day game against the Texas Rangers with a hamstring injury.
Steele made an impressive play to make an out by fielding a short bunt, but appeared to suffer a hamstring injury while making an awkward throw to first base. After pitching almost 5 full innings against the Rangers' loaded lineup his night was likely close to over already, so hopefully the Cubs are just playing it safe with their top pitcher.
Steele was strong in his first start of the year, recording 6 strikeouts in his 4-and-change innings. He kept the Rangers to 3 hits and a walk -- an impressive feat against the third best offense in baseball last season. Hopefully he'll be able to return to the Cubs' rotation sooner rather than later.
