Counsell: Justin Steele (hamstring) to miss at least a month for Cubs

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Justin Steele is expected to miss all of April with a hamstring injury, manager Craig Counsell told reporters Saturday.

What It Means:

Steele left Thursday's Opening Day start with an apparent leg injury. Now, he has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain. He won't throw until he's able to walk without a limp, hence the extended timeline. Ben Brown could provide "bulk" to the pitching staff, Counsell said.

In 4.2 innings pitched, Steele had a 1.93 ERA with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.
