Carmelo Anthony may lag far behind LeBron and KD in discussions about who the best player in the NBA is, but he has the award for the single greatest stat line of the 2013-14 season all to himself.

In a game against the Bobcats in January, Melo put up 62 points, 13 rebounds, and literally nothing else; no assists, no steals, and no blocks. On the plus side, though, he also had zero turnovers and only one personal foul.

So, how was this the greatest stat line from last season when almost everything on it was empty? Other than the fact that the point and rebound categories are as full as you could want, Melo’s shooting split was absolutely on point. He shot 23 for 35 from the field, 6 for 11 from downtown, and a perfect 10 for 10 from the line.

The Knicks won the game 125-96 and the folks at Madison Square Garden got every bit of their money’s worth watching Melo eviscerate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and the Bobcats (who also allowed LeBron’s 61, coincidentally).

It’s games like these that remind you why Carmelo Anthony was so sought after in this summer’s free agency and why the Knicks were willing to give him a max deal to keep him in the fold.
