10 Players Who Can Take Over the NCAA Tournament

Landry Shamet, Wichita State Shockers

After a brief detour through the land of young, talented bigs, we come out on the other side to find yet another experienced guard in Wichita State's Landry Shamet. Shamet isn't the oldest player on the block (at 20 years old), but he's been through a lot in his two-plus seasons as a Shocker.

Before rumors swirled about the then-sophomore leaving college for the draft, Shamet flashed the skills of a future NBA point man. In the Second Round of last year's tournament, he went 7-of-14 from the floor and finished with 20 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds against the Kentucky Wildcats. Overall, he had a great season, but he's continued to shine despite the Shockers' move to the American Athletic Conference.

In leading the Shockers to a 25-7 record and a 4 seed in the East, Shamet built upon last year's success to the tune of 15.0 points, 5.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 threes per game. Those across-the-board numbers have translated to the nation's 6th-best offensive box plus-minus (8.7) and 13th-highest offensive rating (132).

Some people may be overlooking Shamet and the Shockers. They are staring down potential Second and Third Round matchups against West Virginia and Villanova. They'll have to get past Marshall first, but if they do Shamet will have a big opportunity to show his stuff.
