Broncos say Melvin Gordon still starter
Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon is still the starter, per general manager George Paton.
Gordon has additional competition for touches after the Broncos acquired Chase Edmonds in the Bradley Chubb trade. He may remain the preferred early-down option, but Gordon is likely going to lose third-down work to Edmonds while still splitting touches with Latavius Murray. He drew four targets each of the last two games and has at least 12 touches in three of four contests since Javonte Williams tore his ACL in Week 4. The Broncos will play the Tennessee Titans in Week 10 after their bye.
numberFire's models project Gordon to average 10.4 touches and 51.2 yards per game over the rest of the season. Among the 46 backs with at least 50 carries this season, Gordon is dead last in Rushing Net Expected Points per carry.
