Ravens' John Harbaugh a 'big believer' in Rashod Bateman (foot)
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that he is a "big believer" in wide receiver Rashod Bateman (foot), who is "healthy and going to be running in three weeks."
Bateman suffered a brutal, season-ending lisfranc foot injury partway through the 2022 season, but it seems like the former first-round pick will be healthy enough to participate in the team's upcoming OTA workouts. It is unclear whether Lamar Jackson will be the team's starting quarterback in 2023, but for now it seems reasonably certain that Bateman will be the team's top wide receiver come September.
Bateman was only able to play in 6 games in 2022, but he added a vertical element to the Ravens' passing attack that was sorely missing after his injury. While the former first-round pick operated as an option close to the line of scrimmage in his rookie campaign with his 8.8 yard average depth of target (aDOT), the team altered his role in the offense in 2022, causing his aDOT to spike all the way up to 13.4 yards. He has the makings of a fantasy football stud with his versatility as a pass-catcher, but will need to stay healthy if he is to reach his potential.
