Vikings' Cam Akers suffers Achilles injury in Week 9
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell announced following the team's Week 9 win over the Atlanta Falcons that running back Cam Akers suffered an Achilles injury.
Akers suffered what appeared to be a lower leg injury in Week 9 and was quickly ruled out and taken to the locker room. O'Connell announced following the game that the former second-round pick suffered a second Achilles injury, meaning his season is likely over. He had been earning a growing workload with the Vikings in recent weeks, sharing the running back opportunities with Alexander Mattison.
Akers handled 8 carries and 3 receptions in the Week 9 victory before his injury, compiling 38 yards from scrimmage on those touches.
