Commanders' Chris Rodriguez Jr. (ankle) done for year
The Washington Commanders placed rookie running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. (ankle) on injured reserve Thursday.
Rodriguez will miss the final two games of the regular season. He had double-digit carries each of the past two weeks with Brian Robinson sidelined, but the Commanders are expected to have Robinson back for Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers. Antonio Gibson and Derrick Gore could benefit from additional touches in the absence of Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, a sixth-round pick, finishes his inaugural NFL campaign with 51 carries for 247 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has been the most efficient Washington running back, according to numberFire's metrics, and leads the backfield with 0.02 Rushing Net Expected Points per carry.
