Schefter: Falcons will release tight end Jonnu Smith
According to Adam Schefter, the Atlanta Falcons will release tight end Jonnu Smith.
After playing just one season with Atlanta, Smith will head into free agency and attempt to join his fourth career team. Expect Smith to play a potential backup role for his new team while the Falcons will hopefully utilize Kyle Pitts with a full-time offensive snap percentage under their new coaching staff.
On 69 targets last season, Smith ranked 38th among tight ends with a 59.1 Pro Football Focus rating while accounting for 50 receptions for 582 yards and three touchdowns.
