Broncos announce release of quarterback Russell Wilson
The Denver Broncos announced that they will release quarterback Russell Wilson, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Wilson will officially become a free agent as teams begin their prep for the 2024 NFL Draft, adding an interesting wrinkle for quarterback-needy teams. With multiple top level prospects entering the league, as well as multiple current starters that could find new teams, it is possible that Wilson could end up without a starting job come September.
The Broncos did not find the success they had hoped for after trading for Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks two years ago, finishing with an 11-19 record with the former Super Bowl champion under center. The Broncos will now officially begin the process of finding a new quarterback for the upcoming season.
