Justin Upton hasn't been overly productive this season, but he has been absolutely crushing the ball lately. In the month of August, he put up a 41.8% hard-hit rate with only a 13.4% soft-hit rate.

Despite those outstanding batted-ball numbers, he only has a .258 BABIP, leaving a lot of room for optimism that his production will pick up.

Another reason to be optimistic tonight is the pitcher he'll be facing. Upton and the Detroit Tigers get the struggling Yordano Ventura, who has a 4.33 ERA and 4.65 SIERA on the season to go with a 3.82 ERA and 4.05 SIERA for his career. His 17.8% strikeout rate and 9.3% walk rate this year are both worse than his career averages.

The Tigers have a decent 3.97 implied total, and with the way Upton has been making contact lately, he could put up big-time numbers.
