The Top 20 Pitching Seasons in the Last 25 Years
T4. Kevin Brown, San Diego Padres (1998)
Kevin Brown was largely known for his years spent with the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers, but his one season with the San Diego Padres might be his best. That year, at 33, Brown started 35 games, winning 18 and yielded a WAR of 9.6. He held opposing batters to 0.28 home runs per nine innings, which helped produce a 2.23 FIP.
Brown, unfortunately, was robbed of the NL Cy Young as Tom Glavine took the award. Nonetheless, he appeared in his third All-Star game.
