4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 4/17/17
Manny Pina, C, Milwaukee Brewers
FanDuel Price: $2,200
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Catcher is an interesting position on Monday. The most expensive catcher is Jonathan Lucroy, but is in for a tough battle with Jharel Cotton on the mound. Perhaps the most popular play on the day could be Brian McCann, who gets to hit in the friendly confines of Minute Maid Park against Jesse Chavez and his 5.40 ERA.
One player that's sure to be ignored is Manny Pina of the Milwaukee Brewers, and there's a decent change many players are unaware of the Brewers backstop.
Why You Should Use Him:
Pina entered the year behind Jett Bandy on the catcher depth chart, who came over to the Brewers in the offseason from the Los Angeles Angels. Despite his lack of major league service time, though, Pina has produced at the dish -- over his first 27 plate appearances this season, has ripped off a 1.135 OPS, 34.8% hard-hit rate and just a 2.8% swinging-strike rate.
Those gaudy numbers have earned him more and more playing time, as he's now started three of the last four games.
While John Lackey has been historically strong against right-handed batters (.309 wOBA), but he did allow a 42.3% fly-ball rate and 34.6% hard-hit rate to them in 2016.
If you're looking for a cheap option with big upside on the day, look no further than Pina.
