Dan Haren, Miami Marlins

Dan Haren has not allowed a runner on base to score, meaning all three of his earned runs have come off of solo home runs. Take away those blemishes, and all is well with the 34-year old. The Marlins have started about as bad as a team could and without Haren, things could be even worse. Much like Harang and Martinez, Haren has feasted on a low batting average against (.159), low BABIP (.118) and WHIP (0.69). So, like those other pitchers, regression could be coming.

But Haren streamers should expect similar results this week, as he gets two starts against teams that have struggled offensively in the Phillies and Nationals. The Phillies and Nationals are slashing .201/.257/.289 and .224/.281/.357 against right-handed pitchers, respectively, through two weeks. The road start Tuesday against Philadelphia seems like even less of an issue because Philly is averaging 2.67 runs per game at home Citizens Bank Park.

The recent surge in offense in the nation’s capital may be short-lived. After scoring 19 runs over a four-game series against the Phillies this past weekend, the Nationals play three games against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards have a team ERA of 2.40 on the road and could send the Nats spell trouble before heading into their weekend series against Haren and the Marlins.
