Edwin Encarnacion, 1B, Toronto Blue Jays

A day after mauling one Kansas City Royals’ starter, the Blue Jays again have a huge implied total (5.05) for their clash with Royals’ righty Ian Kennedy.

Edwin Encarnacion, our third-ranked bat, is having another monster year, registering a .378 wOBA, a .274 ISO, and an 11.6% walk rate. He’s been especially potent at the Rogers Centre, the site of today’s game, posting a .390 wOBA at home. Encarnacion went nuts in June, finishing the month with a .480 wOBA, a 19.7% walk rate, and a 42.1% hard-hit rate.

Kennedy’s 4.04 ERA doesn’t look too bad, but he’s actually having one of the worst seasons of his career. He’s pitched to a career-high 4.15 SIERA while recording an 8.2% walk rate. Kennedy has been awful away from Kansas City, giving up a .360 wOBA in his road starts, and he allowed a .369 wOBA in the month of June.

The Blue Jays, like usual, will be a popular target, and Encarnacion can anchor a stack.
