Jace Peterson absent for Arizona Thursday afternoon
Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Jace Peterson is not in the lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against the San Francisco Giants.
Peterson started the past two games and went 2-for-6 with an RBI and 2 strikeouts. The Giants are expected to open with left-hander Scott Alexander on Thursday, so the lefty hitting Peterson should be available off the bench. Emmanuel Rivera will move to third base and bat second while Christian Walker will play first base and hit cleanup.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Diamondbacks' implied total is 4.31 and the game total is 9.0. Right-hander Tristan Beck is expected to be the Giants' primary pitcher in long relief after Alexander opens on Thursday. The rookie Beck has a 1.10 WHIP with a 38.1% hard-hit rate, 19.4% strikeout rate, and 6.2% walk rate across his first 52 innings.
