Bell-Cow Running Backs Could Be Back in Vogue
We all know how much of a Green Bay Packers homer I am, so let’s get lithe Eddie Lacy out of the way first: he looks good, and he’s back in business. Lacy and James Starks will surely have a “thunder-and-lightning” tandem this year like usual, but Lacy appears ready to dominate the rushing game. He has 69 yards and a touchdown on 13 rushing attempts (5.31 average) against the starters; Lacy is ready to rumble.
To that point, Chicago Bears running back Jeremy Langford has also been running as the clear and sole first-team running back this preseason, when he was expected to be in a timeshare with rookie Jordan Howard. While rookie Derrick Henry has dominated the second-strings in the Titans’ two preseason games, DeMarco Murray has done the same to the first-teamers, with 93 yards and a touchdown on 6 rushes (15.50 average). Devonta Freeman holds the crown for the Atlanta Falcons, and he doesn’t appear likely to give it up either, going for 51 yards and a touchdown on 9 attempts (5.67 average).
