Cameron Heyward, Defensive End

When streaming defensive linemen, we have to consider not just how much production they themselves have created, but how much their opponents have allowed. Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward is one example of this in Week 1.

He and the Steel Curtain get to take on Washington this week, who ranked fourth-highest in 2015 in stuffs allowed percentage. This offensive line and running back Matt Jones made a mess of things, getting squelched before the line of scrimmage 53 times last year.

Heyward has been dealing with a high ankle sprain since the Steelers’ third preseason game, but he has exceeded all expectations on his recovery timetable and is practicing in full this week. In 2015, he ranked was exactly average in quarterback hit rate and earned 15 tackles for a loss to boot.

Heyward is available in 87.6% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 3.36 tackles, 0.39 sacks, and a total score of 4.83 fantasy points in Week 1.
