Terrelle Pryor May Offer Unique Value Moving Forward

Prior to the Thursday night game between the New England Patriots and Houston Texans, folks were amazed that New England wide receiver, Julian Edelman, would serve as the number-two quarterback in the event that Jacoby Brissett got hurt.

While Edelman never had to make a throw, considering the fantasy implications of a player who might be able to accrue regular receiving and passing points in a single game was sort of mind-boggling.

And then Terrelle Pryor happened.

Pryor played as a quarterback for the Oakland Raiders from 2011 to 2013. But after being cut from multiple teams during preseason stints, Pryor made the conversion to wide receiver ahead of the 2015 season.

The intrigue around Pryor at wide receiver was always owed to his combination of size and speed, and Pryor put those physical gifts to use in Week 3, busting out for a ridiculous 8-catch 144-yard performance.

Pryor is likely more of a boom/bust play on a week-to-week basis. But two things moving forward may help buttress his fantasy football floor. First, Corey Coleman will be out for 4 to 6 weeks, meaning Pryor should operate as the number-two receiver even when Josh Gordon comes back in Week 5.

And second, Pryor also received a number of snaps at quarterback in rotation with third-string quarterback Cody Kessler. In doing so, Pryor was able to accumulate 35 yards passing and 21 yards rushing to go along with his gaudy receiving stats.

If Pryor continues receiving some snaps at quarterback in Week 4, he'll remain an even more intriguing asset until Josh McCown comes back based on the numerous ways he'll be able to accumulate points for your team.
