Week 5 revealed some interesting patterns to those who were watching: punt returns were a big deal, deep bombs were a big deal, and Derek Carr has ice in his veins. The Oakland Raiders make their third appearance in the top-10 this week, with two plays big aerial attacks by their third-year quarterback.

On this play, early in the third quarter, the Raiders were down eight points and struggling to get back into the game. They had 2nd-and-10 in their own territory, and Carr dropped back to pass. Wide receiver Amari Cooper worked a silky-smooth move on safety Adrian Phillips, who was covering him, and glided out to an enormous amount of separation down the left sideline. All Carr had to do was hang in the pocket despite good pressure and deliver a shot to his batterymate. Cooper’s first touchdown of the year came in tremendous fashion.
