Tom Brady’s 0.57 Passing NEP Per Drop Back Is the Best Mark in the NFL

Among all quarterbacks who have dropped back 20 or more times this season, Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo (0.47) rank first and second, respectively, in Passing NEP per drop back. The sample size is small with only two games under his belt, but Brady is on pace for historical numbers.

Of all the quarterbacks with at least 150 drop backs in a season since 2000, Peyton Manning’s 0.45 Passing NEP per drop back is currently the top mark. Through two games, Brady is averaging 391 passing yards and 3 touchdowns per game without any interceptions. This marks the third season in a row that he has started the year with at least two games without an interception.

His 391-yard average would equate to 6,256 yards over a full 16-game season, which would shatter the previous record by 779 yards. Of course, that won’t happen considering he missed the first four games of this season, but he is still on pace to throw for 4,692 yards in 12 games, which would have ranked 4th among all quarterbacks over the full season last year.

In Week 7, Brady will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have given up more than 250 passing yards to each quarterback they have faced this season, but they have held all of them to two touchdowns or less.
