Maurice Alexander, Strong Safety

Los Angeles Rams strong safety Maurice Alexander has been a favorite deep-league option of mine since this offseason, but he’s an interesting player as a streamer even in 14- or 16-team leagues in Week 7, going up against the high-octane New York Giants. The last three weeks, strong safeties have averaged nearly 8.0 points per game against the Giants, who have had a mediocre rushing attack (allowing for easy in-the-box tackles) and a prolific passing attack (allowing for volume of tackles in space). While quarterback Eli Manning has thrown just six interceptions this season, there’s always a chance he misfires and gives up a big play to the likes of Alexander.

Alexander has had a rough past two weeks, with just one tackle apiece, but he’s playing 98 percent of the Rams’ defensive snaps; it’s only a matter of time before he picks up the production pace.

Alexander is available in 98.7% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 3.90 tackles, 0.08 interceptions, 0.38 passes defended, and a total score of 5.74 fantasy points in Week 7.
