Martellus Bennett, TE, New England Patriots

FanDuel Price: $5,800
Salary Change: Down $800

Martellus Bennett’s salary peaked at $6,600 last weekend on FanDuel after his magnificent three-touchdown performance in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns. This is actually the first week that is price has decreased -- look at his steady salary increase over the first six weeks of the season:

Even with fellow tight end Rob Gronkowski fully healthy and integrated into the offense, Bennett still recorded 11 receptions in the last two games. One red flag, however, is his season-low 36 snaps against the Bengals last week.

Bennett is the cheapest he’s been in five weeks, but it’s now is not the time to use him. The matchup isn’t great, as the Pittsburgh Steelers have allowed just one touchdown to tight ends this season. Also, tight ends with a $800 or more salary decrease in the last three seasons have reached tournament value just 7.7 percent of the time.

He’ll carry low ownership in tournaments, but that would be the only reason to roster Bennett in Week 7. The smart move is to avoid him on Sunday, hope for another salary drop, and use him in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills after two down games.
