4. The Real Slim Shady

Win Probability Added: +15.29
NEP: +6.24

It seems like Buffalo Bills running back Lesean McCoy has been on the injury report every other week this season, to the point where I wonder if there’s any part of the Buffalo bell-cow that’s still in typical working order. Still, if he’s more machine than man these days it may suit him for the thick upstate New York winter about to come. He’s maintained his consistent baseline of production and an ability to break big plays. The latter quality was depicted in Week 12, as the first play of the second half saw him rip the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense apart.

Shady must have already fitted his tank treads for the winter, because he was balanced and explosive like heavy armor on 1st-and-10 from the Bills’ own 25-yard line. The play design was a simple power run outside in a jumbo set, but McCoy saw that designed side of the line collapse. What did he do then? Cut back and bounced outside to the right, beating the defenders to the corner and outracing the defensive backs to the end zone.
