Denzel Perryman, Inside Linebacker

The market in fantasy -- especially redraft -- is reactive, not proactive. We know that San Diego Chargers inside linebacker Denzel Perrymanhas been injured for nearly a month, but there’s no reason why his ownership should qualify him for this column. In his first game back, last week, Perryman racked up 10 total tackles and 8.0 fantasy points. When healthy in 2016, the Chargers’ young stud has averaged 7.83 fantasy points and has a 15.67 percent tackle rate that would rank him fifth among 120 linebackers if he qualified.

Even better, the Chargers’ Week 13 opposition is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who rank eighth-highest in stuff rate allowed. In addition, there should be plenty of running back tackles to go around; the Bucs rank 10th-lowest in pass-to-run play calling ratio. Perryman’s solid tackle floor gets a bit of pepper this week due to the Bucs’ lackluster run blocking, and that makes him an easy pickup and start if he’s available.

Perryman is available in 96.5% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 5.18 tackles, 0.10 sacks, 0.08 passes defended, and a total score of 5.80 fantasy points in Week 11.
