Jared Goff's -64.56 Passing NEP Is the Worst Mark of Any Player

Yes, dead last. Any player who did not attempt a pass this season simply remains at 0 NEP. But on Jared Goff's 231 drop backs, he ended up 41.29 points worse than the next closest player, which happens to be Bryce Petty at -23.27 NEP on 146 drop backs.

When comparing Goff to all 47 other quarterbacks with at least 50 drop backs this season, his -0.28 Passing NEP per drop back also ranks dead last. Since we began tracking NEP in 2000, there have been 872 instances of a quarterback with at least 50 drop backs in a single season, and Goff's 2016 season ranks 765th on that list in terms of Passing NEP per drop back.

Goff's performance certainly wasn't what the Los Angeles Rams were hoping for when they selected him with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, trading up to do so. He finished his rookie season with just 1,089 passing yards, 5 touchdowns and 7 interceptions while going winless in his seven appearances.

And the Rams don't currently have a first round pick this year to use for help since they traded it away in order to get Goff. It's not an attractive opening.
